Cobra Leaves
Botanical Name: Darlingtonia CalifornicaRegions: California, Oregon The cobra plant is a herbaceous perennial consisting of a rhizome, with fibrous roots. Tubular pitcher leaves arise directly from the rhizome, forming a rosette. The hood of the pitcher is well developed to form a dome, with the pitcher opening facing downward. The pitcher lid is modified into a two-lobed, fishtail like appendage projecting downward from the front edge of the opening. The leaves twist as they grow. The dainty flowers has five petals, which hang from the base of the dangling flower. Cobra leaves are used in making beautiful decoratives. They are used to make a attractive cover of any book and are widely used in craft works to make paper bags, show pieces, folders, etc. They can also be used as a bookmark. They are used for decorative as well as ornamental purposes.
