Leaves are dried or preserved to capture the beauty of spring and hold
it to your hearts throughout the winter. Dried leaves are beautiful when
used as decoratives in any transparent holder. They embellish the room
and give a warm welcome to the guests. There are several preserving
techniques that help to enhance the prized collection of leaves well,
after the trees are bare and ground frozen.
Drying leaves is an age old tradition. Leaves were dried to preserve
them. The leaves were picked for their medicinal qualities, fragrance,
or to be used as spices and of course for their decorative value. Leaves
as per their properties were dried using different techniques.
Leaves can be preserved by:
- Placing leaf between two pieces of wax paper and then seal the
wax paper together by the use of iron.
- In a solution of glycerine and water place the leaves for almost
6 days to dry. The leaves will slowly absorb the solution and become
soft and flexible for many years.
- Dry leaves in microwave by laying them between two paper towel.
