Kanchan / Folding Leaves

Botanical Name: Bouhinia Varigata

Kanchan leaves are also called folding leaves. These are the leaves that can be folded. Kanchan is a very early maturing composite. It responds to low level of management. Grains are yellow colored. This has resistance against brown stripe downy mildew and stalk rot.

Uses
In the dried form kanchan leaves are used as feed and manure. They are also used as flavoring agents and sweetners. They serve as a good antiseptic and disinfectant. They form an important ingredient of potpourris.
