Pear Pods
Botanical Name: Pyrus CommunisCommon Names: Akras, Onkne, Apios A pear tree can grow upto a height of 20 m. At times some of the pears are mounted on a quince stem so that they remian smaller. Pear is a sweet juicy yellow or green fruit with a rounded shape that narrows towards the stalk. Pears are picked when they are almost ripe. Pear pods have a woody outer skin that are about 2 and a ½ inches long. They are round in shape getting narrow at one end of the fruit. They are popularly used in making delightful and aromatic blend of potpourris.
