dot

Silver Fern Botanical Name: Cyathea Dealbata
Common Name: Ponga
Origin: New Zealand
Cultivation: Prefers shaded places sheltered from wind.

Multiple fronds emerge on ferns. The distinctive fronds have silvery undersides. The fronds are each 2 to 4m long. They have sweet scented flowers. They grow well in a shady site with some moisture. They are dried to preserve appearance and fragrance for a long time.

Uses
Dried Silver Fern are widely used as fillers in dried flower arrangement. They give a charming look to the decor and to the vase they are kept in. They are also used for culinary, ornamental and medicinal purposes. They are used for ulcers, skin eruptions and boils. Dried bud is pulverized and used in a plaster. They often form an ingredient of a potpourri for its pleasant and long lasting fragrance.
