Cultivation of Strawflower
Strawflower will grow and flower between 10 degree C to 20 degree C without any problems. It can tolerate low temperatures also for short periods of time. They are placed into a direct sunlight position. It grows well in slightly acid to slightly alkaline soils. The plants should be kept slightly moist. Plants that dry out too much between watering periods, tend to produce less flowers.

Drying Strawflower
Strawflower is the most popular annual for drying. They grow up to 2 feet tall with flowers in varied colors. The showy, stiff bracts surround and conceal the tiny flowers inside. These flowers are cut and picked in the bud stage or just as they open. After that they are tied into small bunches and hung with heads down in an airy place until dried. Remove them after they are completely dried. Store them in a place away from direct sunlight.
